About Dental Implants
Dental implants are currently the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. Their unique design and technology allow patients to regain health, function, and esthetics even if they are missing one or all of their teeth.

Dental implants are essentially tooth root replacements made of titanium, which is a very biocompatible material that allows intimate bone growth right up against the implant surface. This special healing property is called osseointegration and allows for the anchoring of a variety of prosthetics—from a simple single crown to help retaining a denture, or all the way to full-arch restoration and replacing an entire row of missing teeth.
The Benefits of Dental Implants
After a tooth is lost, the bone that held the tooth will shrink over time and cause changes to your bite, jawbone, and facial structures. As a result, the proper placement of a dental implant requires a period of time for osseointegration to occur. Osseointegration is the direct connection between the remaining living jawbone and the surface of a dental implant, which provides a stable foundation for the abutment and crown as well as long-term implant success. Another benefit of osseointegration is that the fusion of the dental implant with your jawbone also allows for maintenance of bone volume and prevents bone shrinkage.

Immediate Implants
Traditionally, implant therapy consisted of first extracting a diseased or non-restorable tooth, placing a bone graft, and then waiting 3 to sometimes 6 months before the actual dental implant is placed.

Today, it is sometimes possible for patients to have an implant placed the same day that they lose their tooth. This is a huge advancement in the field of dentistry that allows patients to minimize the amount of time they spend in a dental office having surgical procedures done. The best part is that implants placed immediately into the tooth socket do just as well as the “traditional” approach long term!
Immediate Temporary Crowns
At our office, we not only focus on health and function, but we know esthetics can be extremely important to our patients. Losing a tooth, especially a front tooth, can be traumatizing and difficult for patients to endure.

That’s why, for all our front tooth implant cases, we always plan to have a temporary crown made either the same day or within 48 hours that is screwed into the implant so patients can avoid having to wear a temporary removable device. This modern technique also helps maintain the shape of the gums, therefore allowing your general dentist to produce a natural and healthy implant crown.

Cone Beam 3-D Imaging
To execute the ideal implant placement and design requires ideal planning. At our office, we have medical-grade cone beam imaging capable of acquiring a 3-dimensional scan of your jaw bones.

Our office then views that data in a powerful, state-of-the-art software that allows us to virtually place the implant. This allows us to anticipate any need for bone grafting, avoid vital structures like nerves and blood vessels, and allows us to place the implant in the best position for your dentist to place the crown.
